Inventory Usage tracking enables you to monitor material consumption throughout your construction project, ensuring accurate cost tracking and inventory management.

Overview#

Inventory Usage provides:

  • Real-time tracking of material consumption
  • Linkage between BOQ and actual usage
  • Cost calculation based on consumption
  • Inventory level monitoring
  • Material requisition integration
  • Reporting and analytics

Viewing Inventory Usage#

Accessing Inventory Usage#

  1. Navigate to your construction project.
  2. Go to Inventory Usage tab or menu.
  3. View list of all inventory usage records created from BOQ.

Inventory Usage List#

The list displays:

  • Usage Number: Unique identifier
  • Date: Usage date
  • Project: Associated construction project
  • BOQ Reference: Link to Bill of Quantity
  • Work Package: Related work package
  • Status: Draft, Confirmed, Posted
  • Total Value: Cost of consumed materials

Creating Inventory Usage from BOQ#

Automatic Creation#

  1. When BOQ is confirmed, system can automatically create inventory usage records.
  2. Each BOQ line with material items generates usage entries.
  3. Quantities are pre-filled from BOQ.

Manual Creation#

  1. Go to Inventory Usage.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Select BOQ to reference.
  4. System populates lines from BOQ.
  5. Adjust quantities if needed.
  6. Confirm the usage.

Inventory Usage Details#

Usage Lines#

Each usage record contains lines for:

  • Product: Material consumed
  • Description: Material details
  • Quantity: Amount consumed
  • Unit of Measure: Measurement unit
  • Unit Cost: Cost per unit
  • Total Cost: Quantity × Unit Cost
  • Location: Where material was used
  • Work Package: Related work package

Updating Quantities#

  1. Open inventory usage record.
  2. Modify quantities based on actual consumption.
  3. Update unit costs if prices changed.
  4. Save changes.

Consumed Materials View#

Viewing Consumed Materials#

  1. Navigate to Consumed Materials in your project.
  2. See summary of all materials consumed:
  3. Material name
  4. Total quantity consumed
  5. Total cost
  6. Consumption by work package
  7. Consumption by date range

Material Consumption Analysis#

Analyze consumption patterns:

  • By Material Type: Group by material category
  • By Work Package: Consumption per package
  • By Time Period: Daily, weekly, monthly consumption
  • By Location: Consumption by site location

When inventory usage is confirmed:

  1. System automatically updates inventory levels.
  2. Reduces stock quantities.
  3. Records cost of goods sold.
  4. Updates inventory valuation.

Material Management#

Material Catalog#

Maintain a comprehensive material catalog:

  • Product Information: Name, description, specifications
  • Units of Measure: Standard units for each material
  • Pricing: Current and historical prices
  • Suppliers: Preferred vendors
  • Categories: Material groupings

Material Categories#

Organize materials by:

  • Type: Cement, Steel, Wood, etc.
  • Usage: Structural, Finishing, MEP, etc.
  • Source: Local, Imported, etc.
  • Cost: High-value, Standard, Low-cost
